How To Tease Emo Hair

Have you always wanted the big hair that all the pretty scene/emo/punk girls have, but never understood how to make it?

Here’s all the steps you need.

Steps:
Straighten your hair. It isn’t too smart to tease it curly or wavy because it damages it easier. DO NOT FORGET TO USE A HEAT PROTECTANT FOR YOUR HAIR. Emo hair gets damaged easily, with all the teasing and straightening. The least you can do is take every precaution to prevent damage as much as possible.
Brush hair to make sure all knots are out.
Tie back the top layer of your hair, leaving the bottom hanging loose.
Using a rattail comb, separate the piece of hair you want to tease. Clip back everything else.
Tease the hair. It is just brushing your hair backwards, starting at the end and brushing towards the root. Pass as many times to achieve desired height. Start about halfway up the hair and quickly brush it down to the root.
Spray the piece with a firm hold hairspray.
Repeat the steps with all hair you want to tease.
When you have finished teasing with a comb, it is a good idea to go back through and tease the top layers gently with a brush.
When finished, use both hands to smooth back your hair, or, for extra volume, push up the layers of your hair from the roots with your fingers. Fluff your hair my shaking your head a little.
Spray all of your hair with hairspray.

Warnings
DO NOT BRUSH OUT A TEASE! It will break your hair badly.
Regularly wash and condition your hair and don’t tease EVERYday as it causes damage to your hair.

Things You’ll Need
Hairspray
Rattail comb
Clips

Emo/Scene/Alt/Punk Girl Hair Tips

How I Do My Hair
I wake up every morning and take a shower. i then blow dry my hair, because when i blow dry it I get more volume.
When its all dry, I spray my hair with “John Frieda Collection: Frizz-Ease. Heat Defeat Protective Styling Spray”
Then I straighten my hair.
When it’s all straight i start teasing my hair
I tease it A LOT to make it look really big.
I have really thin hair, so its hard to make my hair super big, but i still try x]]
I use “Herbal Essences: Set Me Up Hairspray: MAX HOLD” so my hair wont fall flat during the day
When im done teasing i add a bow or head band in my hair :]]
Thenn… I’m all Finished :D D

SCENE HAIR

It’s hard to maintain scene hair. I have blonde black pink and purple in my hair, to keep the colors from blending i seperate the colors into sections and wash each color separately to prevent bleeding I also re dye the purple whenever i feel its starting to get dull, which is about once a week and good products are NECESSARY! i use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair and before you flat iron use a thermal protectant.. serum or spray (i prefer kenra products! :])
for styling:
1) blow dry your hair forward
2) tease long hair with a teasing brush. tease short hair with a teasing comb.
3) make your own bows out of ribbon, its cheaper and you can get creative! :D

How to Style Emo Hair

Do you want emo hair that just looks totally original and out of this world? There’s no limit to what you can achieve! You can get the look with enough time on your hands. Here are a number of suggestions and tips for managing your hair.

Try blonde or black if you don’t want to be too outstanding. If you want more color you can add highlights of purple, pink, blue, or other colors of the rainbow. If you want to go all the way out try dying your hair red, green, blue, pink, purple, or orange than add highlights of any color. If you have dark hair you can use bleach to lighten your hair but remeber don’t change your style quickly or you will be known as a poser.

Short Hair – Girls
Get some awesome choppy layers cut into your hair. If it is curly, think about having it straightened! GETTING it razored will make people think you are aiming for an emo look.

Mess up the back with a little hair serum or, if you want a more boyish look, use gel to get a wet look. You might put some porcupine spikes in the back, as a suggestion.
Remember to lather, rinse and repeat in the shower to get rid of all that gel!
Get extensions if you’d prefer to have long Emo hair.
Dye your hair black or stark blond with streaks of other colors, such as bright pink or electric blue, any color that is crazy and will stand out. You could also dye underneath a bright colour, and leave the top your natural colour. As an alternative, you can keep your natural hair color and get some lowlights/highlights that compliment your hairstyle. The most common hairstyle in the Emo scene is either straight black or blond with black underneath.
Grow out your fringe and pin it to the side with Kirby grips or bow clips during the process.

Mid-Length Hair – Girls
Use heat protecting serums when you straighten your hair!
Layer your hair and get it razored. Brown or black with another color in the fringe or back looks awesome. Blonde . Get colors like green or blue or purple onto your roots or bangs.
Keep in mind that you’ll be straightening your hair. Use a hot oil or similar hair treatment weekly, such as Aussie 3 minute miracle to reduce damage from all the hairspray, straightening, and combing.
Use conditioner every time that you wash your hair.
Use hairspray and stay away from hair gel. Serum is okay, but use it in moderation. Use bow clips, ribbons – whatever suits you.
Remember to have it poofed! In other words, you’ll be using lots of hairspray and maybe a little backcombing. Teasing is a good way to poof it up but only tease UNDER the layers so no one can see the knots.

Long Hair – Girls
Brush your hair daily. Also comb gently to get rid of dead hairs. If you are considering getting it cut, get it razored and layer it.
Dye your hair peroxide blonde with the fringes black or brown. This combination looks great on long hair.
Trim Your Own Split Ends. Trim your split ends at least every six weeks. This will help to maintain a healthy look. Long hair is very easy to make Emo, although it needs lots of TLC.
Use conditioner and shampoo tailored for your hair type. If you straighten/curl, use proper protection.
Accessorize! Kirby grips, bobby pins, bows and ribbons look hot!
Tease Your Hair! Get short layers cut around the top of your hair, then grab each layer and tease it at the roots with a comb. Hairspray where you have teased. Try to do this to a few of your top layers and then flatten it a bit to get the oomph-factor!

Short Hair – Guys
Dye your hair black or blonde. Razor it, straighten it – whatever goes! The Oliver Sykes look is a good choice for short hair.
Avenged Sevenfold also has some groovy hairstyles. Check Out Johnny Christ or Zacky Vengeance and consider copying their gelled look.
Consider black with a long fringe and red streaks. It looks amazing on most guys!
Wash your hair thoroughly!

Mid-Length Hair – Guys
Dye your hair if you wish. Generally speaking, any color goes with mid length.
Get your hair razored.
Avoid using hair gel! It doesn’t look too great on medium hair.
You don’t need to use too over-the-top colors when dying your hair. Brown or black with blonde can look very good!

Long Hair – Guys
Understand that the key to long Emo hair is simple TLC. Shampoo every other day, or every day, depending on your hair type.
Use conditioner and comb it through your hair when you shower. Try to let it dry naturally.
Do not dye ur hair with over-the-top colors. Dying your hair with brown, black, or blond looks fine. You can even keep your original hair color if you like! Peroxide might suit you.
Get your split ends cut regularly.
Avoid layering your hair as it doesn’t look too good. Consider getting your hair thinned out, if you do want a change.
Use heat protection sprays and serums liberally if you decide to straighten your hair!

Alternate Method
Spray your hair with a heat protecting spray to keep your hair from being damaged by a flat iron.

Plug in your flat iron for 5 minutes to let it heat up. While it is heating, you can apply your make-up or brush out your hair.
Clip all of your layers into a large clip, leaving the bottom section of your hair down.
Straighten all of the hair, and then let each section of layers down one at a time until you have straightened your whole head.
Once all of your hair is straightened, comb your bangs over to one side and straighten them into place.
Take the hair on each side of the crown and back-comb (tease) it.
Repeat for all of your top layers and spray into place.
If your bangs are not staying in place, hold them there with a bobby pin or cute clip.
Hair-spray your whole head, but not too excessively or else your hair will look greasy.
Go out on the town and let everyone see your cool new hair!

Warnings:

If your natural hair color is an amazing shade of red, do not dye it. You can never get it back. If you REALLY want to, dye it with temporary dye. Red can be hard to duplicate with dye and growing out red roots once you’ve dyed your hair blonde/black can look bad.
Be careful, if you have slow growing hair then it could be bad if you get a haircut that doesn’t look good on you. If you are scared about a haircut not looking good on you, you can always visit a wig store to get an idea on how things will look on you.
Try new styles over holidays like spring break and summer vacation, just in case something goes wrong you wont have to worry about friend/classmates making fun of you.
If you are going Emo. Then find pictures of a “emo” haircut you want, that fits your facial shape.
A style might look wrong on you, but not on others. Don’t worry! Keep trying and the right style will come to you eventually!
Don’t worry what people say – it’s good to be original!
Never forget to wash your hair thoroughly on a regular basis! You’ll probably be using a lot of hairspray or other gel, which can be tough on your hair.
Be aware of damage. Dying/straightening your hair often will damage it. Don’t be afraid to go a while without.
If you don’t want to dye your hair, do NOT spray color it. It looks bad and streaky and will rub off on your clothes. Use hair extensions. They give you quick easy color without damaging your hair and it won’t look bad.

Tips:

For both sexes reverse mullets are popular.
Very thick hair should be thinned- it makes hair look less bushy! Don’t thin it out if it’s medium or thin thickness.
at shows consider wearing kitty ears or bunny ears you’d find at halloween stores,it really does add something to that gorgeous Emo hair!
Don’t forget to have fun! Experiment with your hair – see what looks best!
If you have dark hair and are concerned about damage from bleaching, then consider going black and getting colored hair extensions. You can make the cutest hairstyles and hair colors with extensions. They are a bit expensive if they are high quality. Do your research with hair extensions and if you don’t like how they look, you can always take them out.
If you straighten, use proper protection sprays.
Bows, bobby pins and Kirby grips suit all girly hair types
Girls’ Emo hair doesn’t have to be dyed if you do not want it to. It can be short – get clip-in extensions with coon stripes ,then backcomb or tease your hair. The bigger the better! If you want to be original about it, keep your current fringe or no fringe in some case.
Cutting it yourself makes a very unique style. No-one will have the same! But remember to keep looking at it. Especially the back or it might get uneven.
If you have curly hair, make sure to condition it really well when washing it. When you straighten it, make sure to do it well!! Get the roots really good if you want really thin hair. Make alot of “invisivble” or hard to see layers to thin it out more, when your hair is curly, this wont do alot of damage. Make more insanely choppy layers even with the mouth, not any higher! This will make your curly hair go poof.
Volume is key! Be careful for frizz.
Almost all hair types can look Emo just by being straightened. If you have curly hair, you can wash it, dry using a diffuser until slightly damp and use a special gel or curling tongs to emphasize the curls.
Black hair is good for any length, on any gender.
when choosing a hairstyle from a zine or web site, look for someone who has the same face shape as you and the same kind of hair. if you have a round face with thin hair don’t pick the same style as some one with an oval face and thick hair, the style won’t look as nice on you. work with what you have, and you’ll always have perfect hair.

How To Use Emo Lingo

How to Use Emo Lingo

To really be Emo, you have to talk Emo. If you don’t know what Emo is, then this will be no help to you.

Online Typing:

DON’T use ;; and // and :: or && because that is OLD. EVERYONE has been using it, if you want, use it sparingly because that means you’re a newbie, if people read that.

DON’T use the typos such as lyke, sexi, gawd, etc. Emo kids are growing up and really don’t like people who talk lyke dis nd th3y g3t r3lly mad when someone acts like a 4 year old child.

Use abbreviations if you’re comfortable, but always make sure that no one knows what they mean. EX: “I’m going to the mall” would be IGTTM. You have to know what HxC and SxE means. If you don’t, then learn. SxE does NOT mean sexy, it means straight edge (Someone who refrains from drinking and drugs, and casual sex), and HxC means [hardcore]

Put extra letters at the end of words sparingly. EX: Radd, RAWRR.['rawr'is much overused and is not 'in' anymore]

Use good punctuation and grammar.

The term “fer sure” has become popular among Emo kids. [ And now has become very unpopular because of it's over use and mainstream popularity.]

Another popular thing for Emo kids to type is “sup kiddo” and “zomg”[but no one really uses zomg anymore].

Tips:

Try to think of your own things to say and completely overuse them.

Be yourself. Be as cute as possible, if you’re a girl. Be original.

Most Emo kids have accounts on sites such as: Stickam, Myspace, Youtube, Buzznet, Facebook, ect.

In Person or On the Phone:

Emo kids say things like:”betch”, “you are the sex”, “that’s golden”, “you’re too cute STFU”, “Oh-em-gee”,

Don’t use irritating abbreviations in person, saying “lol” is acceptable but “rofl” and “lmao” are best left to msn conversations.

Find videos of Audrey Kitching and Jac Vanek using emo and scene lingo.

Talk at a moderate pace, make sure you don’t sound laid back, talking in a higher pitch, almost like Dahvie Vanity, makes you appeal more to the Emo eye.

Use the word Lawlz; its cute and is commonly used to substitude for lol, you can also use uber (means really really) such as: “that looks uber cute on you.”

A Few Warnings:

Don’t ever try to talk like a prep to Emo kids…

You might be made fun of at first… Don’t stop though, cause “You don’t care”.

Get yourself an official buzznet page! Every Emo kid has one, and you’ll pick up on lots of acceptable Emo lingo once you hit buzznet.

Don’t type “lIkE tHiSSS”. You won’t sound cool, you’ll sound stupid and people will just think you can’t type properly.
